We’re proud to announce that Ted Stinson has joined Amplify Partners as a Venture Partner. Ted began working with us in late 2016 as an Executive in Residence to test the hypothesis that Amplify could accelerate our portfolio companies’ time to market and sales capabilities by providing focused sales and marketing assistance very early in their development. Whether it meant helping a first-time founder develop a sales motion, or advising a team of engineers on recruiting go-to-market talent, we hoped Ted could find a few places to make an impact.
It is safe to say that our “experiment” was a tremendous success. After observing Ted conduct hands-on engagements with a half-dozen Amplify portfolio companies and spend numerous hours coaching and advising many others, we were anxious to find a way to get more of Ted’s time and expertise around our entrepreneurs and our investment team alike. So when the opportunity emerged to turn his EIR engagement into something more permanent, we jumped at the chance.
Ted is uniquely suited to assist Amplify’s family of founders and CEOs. He built his 20+ year career as sales, marketing and business development leader in companies ranging from early-stage cyber security startups to multi-billion dollar enterprise infrastructure vendors such as Symantec, Veritas, PernixData, Quantum and tCell. In addition to his MBA from the Stanford GSB, Ted is a University of Notre Dame alum, which Mike promises not to hold against him outside of football season.
Ted is already hard at work formalizing the lessons he’s learned across his career into best practices that will help Amplify founders build companies that win. Our current portfolio companies and prospective entrepreneurs should expect to hear plenty from him in the future!
